Ngāti Koata Trust Grants – Education, Health & Sport
Ngāti Koata Trust provides education, health and sports grants to members of the iwi. Grants are considered four times per financial year (ie April to March):
1 Apr – 30 Apr ( Applicants’ notified by 19th May )
1 Jul – 31 Jul ( Applicants’ notified by 19th Aug )
1 Oct – 31 Oct ( Applicants’ notified by 19th Nov )
1 Jan – 31 Jan ( Applicants’ notified by 19th Feb )

Manaaki Grants
The Ngāti Koata Trust Manaaki grant is a grant to provide one-off, quick response financial assistance to our most vulnerable whānau who are not able to find assistance elsewhere. Manaaki assistance may also be given on a non-financial basis such as kai, wood, vouchers etc. For more information on our Manaaki grant please click here
Applications are open all year round.
You can fill out your grant application form on your laptop, computer or phone.
- Download the grant application form from our website.
- Open your browser and go to smallpdf.com
- Click CHOOSE FILE and upload the application form.
- Fill out the form using the ADD TEXT and DRAW functions.
- Click FINISH and email to pa@ngatikoata.com along with any other documentation.
- Download the grant application form from our website.
- Download ‘Adobe Fill & Sign: Easy PDF Form Filler’ from Play Store (android) or App Store (i-phone).
- Open app and select grant application form.
- Fill out the form and click on the SHARE icon.
- Email to pa@ngatikoata.com along with any other documentation.
PLEASE NOTE:
Grants are one-off assistance towards education, health, sports and manaaki needs.
Approved grant amounts may only be a portion of the amount requested.
Applicants will not be awarded more than one grant per category in a year.

Applicants must be registered members of Ngāti Koata Trust, or whakapapa verified. Unsure if you are? Please contact us and we will check for you. Phone 03 5481639 or email pa@ngatikoata.com.
To apply for a grant
- Download the relevant grant application form. Complete and return with all requested documentation during one of the four open periods.
- Email: pa@ngatikoata.com | Post: PO Box 1659, Nelson, 7040 | Personal delivery: 137 Vickerman Street, Nelson.
- All completed applications received during the open period will be considered.
Requested documentation
- The requested documentation is required for processing and auditing purposes.
- Applications received without all of the requested documentation are considered incomplete, and cannot be processed.
- Please contact us if you have any questions about the requested documentation.
Submitting your application
- Submit your grant application during an open grants period by email to pa@ngatikoata.com, in person at 137 Vickerman Street, Nelson; or by post to Ngāti Koata Trust, PO Box 1659, Nelson 7040, New Zealand.
Processing your application
- All grant applications will be acknowledged as they are received.
- Grant applications will be processed and reviewed after a grant period has closed, and applicants will be notified of the outcome (approved or declined) in due course, along with advice of payment dates where a grant is awarded.
