The Regulatory Standards Bill

Ngāti Koata Trust firmly opposes the Government’s proposed Regulatory Standards Bill (RSB). This Bill represents a clear threat to the rights of tangata whenua, undermines the status of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and risks rolling back decades of progress Māori have made in having our voices, values, and collective interests recognised in law. It prioritises private property and individual rights, while ignoring te ao Māori, tikanga, and our constitutional position as Treaty partners.

The Waitangi Tribunal has already found the Crown’s approach to this Bill breaches Te Tiriti principles — and yet, the Government continues to progress it.

To help our people be heard, we’ve also developed a submission template based on our iwi submission — available for all Ngāti Koata uri to use and personalise.
